About Patricia Jones - Humboldt Counseling Services

Using a collaborative approach, I work with clients to transform limiting beliefs, access strengths, and move towards a greater sense of wholeness and  balance.  My work is eclectic, primarily relational, developmental and psychodynamic. As needed, I weave in information and tools from a variety of theoretical approaches including cognitive and cognitive-behavioral, attachment theory, expressive arts (sandplay and art therapy), self psychology, humanistic, and Jungian to best match each client’s specific needs and therapy goals. When working with couples, I primarily use an attachment theory perspective coupled with relationship skills coaching. I am also a certified Couples Skills educator. If you have any questions, please discuss them with me during a phone call or therapy session.

I attend workshops and educational seminars, get ongoing confidential professional consultation, and constantly read books and professional articles to bring current evidence based and clinically proven methods to our therapy sessions.

I am a member of the following professional organizations:

CAMFT - California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists

NCAMHP - North Coast Association of Mental Health Professionals (2009 president).  See www.ncamhp.org for my listing as well as information about other local therapists.

I earned a masters degree in Counseling Psychology from Humboldt State University.  I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) which requires 3,000 supervised hours of counseling experience followed by two professional exams by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. You can verify my license information at  http://www.bbs.ca.gov/
