Therapy Goals

Many clients wonder if I work only with clients who are having problems in relationships.  In short, no!  While Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs) are qualified to do couples and family therapy, most LMFTs work primarily with individuals not only to enhance the quality of their relationships, but also to decrease anxiety, depression, and stress, or to explore growth promoting life changes. With that said, I also do work with couples, families, children (8 - 18), as well as with individual adults.

My  focus and mission is to provide a compassionate safe place for healing and to assist you to improve the quality of your life. I listen with care and empathy and have worked with people of diverse backgrounds. Together we'll discuss your situation and collaborate on the treatment outcomes or goals you're interested in.

As you consider your own therapy needs, note  the following issues that some clients have chosen to focus on. Remember that we are in no way limited to this list, these goals are merely shown to kindle your own selection process.

  • Understand and alleviate depression and/or anxiety
  • Work with shyness or self-consciousness
  • Manage anger
  • Navigate life transitions
  • Work through loss and grief
  • Gain clarity around confusing or self destructive behaviors
  • Recognize and deal with the impact of past trauma
  • Find more satisfaction at work or school
  • Form better relationships with others
  • Make sense of thoughts or feelings that seem crazy or confusing
  • Develop healthier coping skills
